Helping Our Residents Vote

Voting is very important for many of our residents. This year, as a result of the COVID-19 situation, our activity staff, with the support of Syracuse Jewish Family Service staff and interns, will assist residents with this process.

We have reached out to the Board of Elections to ensure that this assistance is provided in the proper manner.

It may be possible to register online to vote through the DMV if the resident has a driver’s license or non-driver id. See here for more information.

If you would like us to assist your loved one in completing a voter registration form, please notify Irena Pastorello at the Jewish Home or Lisa Merrill at the Inn. Be sure to include the name of the resident in your e-mail.

October 27th is the last date for requesting an absentee ballot. You can find more information about this here.

If you would like us to assist your loved one in completing an absentee ballot application form, please notify Irena Pastorello at the Jewish Home or Lisa Merrill in the Inn. Be sure to include the name of the resident in your e-mail.

For the Jewish Home, Irena has collected most of the absentee ballots that have come in the mail. Irena and SJFS staff will begin taking them to residents, beginning the week of October 12th. We will be asking residents if they would like assistance completing the ballot and will provide this assistance as desired.

If you prefer to assist the resident with their ballot (e.g. during an in-person family visit, or via a virtual/video visit) please notify Irena and Lisa as soon as possible.

All completed ballots will be delivered to the Board of Elections office on Friday October 30th. If you prefer to pick up the ballot and deliver it yourself (or mail it out yourself) please notify Irena and Lisa. Any ballots completed after that time may be placed in the outgoing mail at Menorah Park for pickup by the USPS.
