The Terrace at Menorah Park of CNY
Recognized by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, The Terrace at Menorah Park of CNY is part of the Jewish Health and Rehabilitation Center, which provides quality nursing home care and services. The Terrace was dedicated in 2002 and offers the same comprehensive care in a safe, welcoming environment. Through our memory care services, aging adults and their families across the Syracuse, NY region can receive the support they need. As a continuum of care community, we know the value of having individualized care for loved ones at every stage of life. Many of our residents transition to The Terrace from our independent and assisted living communities, The Oaks at Menorah Park and The Inn at Menorah Park. Our goal is to provide peace of mind for your family, as well as personalized care to our residents.
Our Memory Care Programs
The professional memory care team at Menorah Park of CNY is Positive Approach to Care (PAC) certified by Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA. Our staff is trained in brain and change-ability recognition to implement best practices in every aspect of care. This specialized training is based on skills and relationships, helping to foster positive connections and outcomes. In partnership with Syracuse Jewish Family Service, the programs offered by The Terrace at Menorah Park of CNY include the following.
Mind Aerobics
Mind Aerobics is a cognitive fitness program that exercises the mind through a series of activities. The goal of this program is to encourage brain and memory function, as well as to slow cognitive decline. The Mind Aerobics program is designed to stimulate the following:
- Reaction time
- Processing speed
- Attention and concentration
- Visual and spatial relations
- Executive function
- Problem-solving skills
- Language
- Memory
Mind Aerobics was developed by the New England Cognitive Center (NECC). This non-profit organization specializes in fitness programs using the latest research and educational principles to create programs that foster cognitive health and help improve quality of life.
M-Power U
M-Power U is a social program and learning community for adults with mild cognitive impairment, mild memory loss, and early signs of dementia, as well as individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Our goal is to promote independence in these through fun and creative activities. M-Power U offers several opportunities, including:
- Learn coping strategies and practical skills
- Find ways to maintain brain health
- Build confidence and a positive outlook
- Find additional community resources
- Develop a support network with others living with similar forms of cognitive loss
- Gain support for family members and caregivers
Please note: We do not require a diagnosis to participate in the M-Power U program. Our strategies and practices are intentionally tailored towards older adults.
